4 Skin Care Tips for the New Year

Everyone pledges to eat consume only salad with water at the beginning of the New Year, or stop smoking, or workout everyday. All this great for you (except salad and water), but women usually don't make a New Year's resolution to take care of their skin. Day after day, week after week, year after year, nothing makes you look younger than proper skin care.

Skin hydration is the process of treating skin with moisturizing products to keep the skin soft and supple. Dehydrated skin feels tighter and duller, has more wrinkles, and may produce dark circles under the eyes. Dry skin can occur in all skin types, so it’s important to find the right lotions and techniques to keep your skin hydrated. Often, moisturizing is the final step in a skincare routine, though properly nourishing and hydrating skin goes beyond just a single step. With the right practices, you'll be able to prevent dryness and increase water retention.

How to Hydrate Skin

Consider employing the following techniques to achieve hydrated skin.

1. Drink plenty of water! This is my first tip for a successful photoshoot. Your body must be hydrated. Hydration plumbs the skin. You WILL always look better when you have plenty of water in your system. Avoid excessive amounts of alcohol, coffee and soft drinks. Drinking lots of water will also make your body work the way it is supposed to and help with weight loss.
2. Do NOT take long hot showers. Long hot showers make moisture leave your skin. Instead use luke warm water and avoid oil-stripping soap.
3. Moisturize Right After Your Shower. Lock in moisture by applying shea butter or other lotion.
4. Apply Sunscreen Daily. Use a moisturizer that has at least SPF 30. Nothing ages skin like the sun and your get sun on your skin constantly during all times of the year.

Take care of your skin. You can prevent some lines, sunspots and dark circles by just taking care of yourself.
